Banks

Lloyds Bank

17 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4AW, UK – 0345 300 0000

This branch doesn't seem to be frequented too often, and I've never found I've had to wait long at all to see someone. They were super helpful the time when all my cards got cloned, and the cheque machine is super simple to use. Nice, bright, open and airy.

Pleasant and spacious and a nice place to visit, but like a lot of Lloyds banks these days it has a skeleton staff so watch out if you're in a rush. One teller and a queue is a common sight.

HSBC Bank

67 George St, Richmond TW9 1HG, UK – 0345 740 4404

Helpful. Thankyou Sega !

Lloyds Bank

23 High St, Middlesex, Teddington TW11 8EX, UK – 0345 300 0000

Great staff, but a real shame it's closing in July 2018!

No external ATM so if closed you can't withdraw money.

Building Societies

Nationwide

32 Heath Road, Twickenham TW1 4DD, UK – 0800 554 0262

Rather small and pokey branch but it has everything you need. And the Nationwide is a national treasure: our last building society - which means it is run for the benefit of its customers not its shareholders. It's also one of the best providers of added benefits accounts.

Nationwide

I was in a big trouble as my card was cloned, Helen helped me in everything I needed to sort out. Very friendly and competent. I highly recommend

Thank you for the friendly and competent service expertly delivered by BEN ROSE this early morning 09/10/2017 This branch employs lovely staff!

Local Chambers of Commerce for TW10 5HG. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

Very efficient and friendly local authority Always helpful and professional

Good service and help, used to be better but due to the demand the service has been streamlined, appointments for new claims have to be booked though walk in is still available for updating claims.

Dental Surgeries

Sheen Dental Clinic

152 Upper Richmond Rd W, London SW14 8DP, UK – 020 8876 5277

My experience with Dr Patel and the entire team at Sheen Dental Clinic was fantastic. They made me feel at ease when doing the dental procedure and it feels so nice to have a good dentist who is confident. I'll definitely be coming back for my routine check-up!

I did quite a bit of "shopping around" before selecting a practice for my Orthodontic treatment, and I am very pleased I selected Sheen Dental. Dr. Stavaras and his team (Hi Carolina!) have the latest techniques and equipment, were consistently polite, full of information, and most of all, very cheerful throughout. The work I had done was technically complicated, and actually involved a surgical procedure (in hospital). The Sheen Dental team flexibly managed the whole thing, and showed tremendous attention to detail and compassion. My teeth are now perfectly straight, and I get many compliments - I'm now smiling all the time! I'm really happy with the whole experience - I really feel the treatment could not have been better. My two boys go to Sheen Dental as well, and they really enjoy going to the dentist. If you're considering braces, I enthusiastically recommend Sheen Dental - they are the best around!

Damira Dental Studios

6 Cross Deep, Twickenham TW1 4QW, UK – 020 8892 5941

I have been with his practice for many years and they have always been excellent. They have supported the dental care of our family superbly over the years and kept all of our ‘gnashers’ in good order! But the current team is outstanding - receptionists, hygienists, nurses and dentists. All of them. Kat particularly is a tremendous dentist who is very professional, very caring and has very a clear communication approach. I imagine she can put even the most nervous person at ease. A great team and a really professional practice.

I've had to use Damira a couple of times now over the past few weeks for a hygienist appointment, and also for a replacement crown. I'm not very good with dentists. I'm a nervous patient and find the whole experience of going, generally unpleasant. This was not the case here. Marcia and Kumari are possibly the most friendliest dentists I have ever met, and put me at ease almost instantly. The rest of the staff at reception Louise, Jane and Reena are also equally lovely and are always there to assist with your needs. Over the past 17 years, I have had my crown replaced 3 times at various other dentists and I would say this one has been the best. If I had to pick one word to describe Marcia's work, it would be: Meticulous. Everyone I know has said this has been the most authentic looking crown that I've ever had! I will definitely be using Damira again and would highly recommend it to everyone.

Kew Road Dental

88 Kew Rd, Richmond TW9 2PQ, UK – 020 3667 6235

Dr Andrew Stevenson is the best dentist I’ve ever had! Very knowledgeable, he explains everything clearly and recommends the best plan of action. His clinic is also very reasonable in pricing which is a huge plus! He’s really nice and approachable, treats you like a person rather than a patient. Thanks for your amazing service!

I would highly recommend this practice. Andrew Stevenson and his team couldn’t be more helpful, professional and friendly. Thanks for another pain free appointment.

Dentists

Toothbeary - My Child's Dentist

358A Richmond Rd, Twickenham TW1 2DU, UK – 020 8831 6870

Thank You Toothbeary for looking after my kids teeth. Atmosphere, Clinic and most importantly the staff are just the best, and this is what makes the practice so successful. My son was going to have 9 teeth taken out under the NHS, but thanks to you guys, only 2 teeth had to come out, and the rest repaired. Every think is well explained and documented, and the care given to the children is very re-assuring to see.

I can only warmly recommend Toothbeary: my 3 yo is running to go there. Top professional and friendly service, an amazing waiting room where kids can play and parents relax, ultra competent staff. I simply could not believe such a place existed, all designed and thought for kids. Treatments are recommended and provided in a super efficient way. Even though it is not "next door" from our home, I would not think to go elsewhere. Well done guys!!!!

TOOTHism Dental Clinic

8 South St, Isleworth TW7 7DH, UK – 020 8758 9191

I am delighted with the service both myself and my wife have received at this surgery. The whole team are super professional and take a good deal of time thinking about how to help you. I had to have some clever work done and I am happy with the results. You wont find a better place.

The service is Amazing and the sugary is the cleanest one I have ever been to! Now that i have found Toothism, I sometimes travel nearly 2 hours depending on where i'm working to have treatment there, as i will not go anywhere else. Thank You So Much

The Park Dental Clinic

323 Upper Richmond Rd W, London SW14 8QR, UK – 020 8876 5088

I am a very nervous dental patient and have been here a few times now, one of those times was for a root canal and another time following a nasty fall which knocked one of front teeth out. Each time I was treated by caring, patient and professional staff who I had complete faith in. Would definitely recommend this practice.

Dr Jena is excellent! Extremely professional and kept me advised of what was going on through every step of my treatment for gum care and fillings. Made sure I was in as little discomfort as possible. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for and provides a much better experience from what I remember of NHS.

Lock Road Surgery

55 Lock Rd, Richmond TW10 7LJ, UK – 020 8940 1400

Extremely helpful and accommodating front desk staff, despite their workload and being yelled at by an endless stream of ill-mannered patients. Doctors all seem highly competent, one of the more professionally-run surgeries I’ve come across.

very helpful and understanding.makes me at ease.perfect…...thanks

Roseneath Medical Practice

Mount Ararat Rd, Richmond TW10 6PA, UK – 020 3771 8962

Dr Sumi Soori is the best Doctor I've had in London in 15 years, she is extremely kind, warm and caring, professional and listens to everything you want to talk about, she is more than a Doctor when you visit her. She gives you plenty of time in your appointments and gives fantastic advice on top of her Medical experience. I cannot recommend her enough, I've left Richmond and moved to South West London but I am still making the journey to see her at her practice. Highly highly recommend the lovely Dr Sumi :) x

Dr Soori is a fantastic practitioner who takes the time to understand her patients. She provides holistic care with a smile. Also her availability (in person or via email) is fantastic. Also the reception staff is welcoming and helpful.

A great team of doctors. Special shout out to Dr Patton who is both professional and human. She doesn’t make you feel rushed and takes a broader view of issues. Building not great and website could do with improvements.

Very good surgery, I also like the online repeat prescriptions. Friendly staff and very helpful.

St Mary's Parish Church

WONDERFUL Regency church with fabulous design details and loads of history. Should be much more famous than it is. The services themselves are fairly low church, slightly evangelical in style. Expect puppets and accessible sermons.

Inclusive church, families very welcome. Have Sunday school, a creche, and a reading / colouring in area within the actual nave itself if you want to stay with your kids during the service. OK choir, better than most outside central London

Find Recycling Centres

Townmead Road Re-use and Recycling Centre

Townmead Rd, Kew, Richmond TW9 4EL, UK – 020 8876 3281

Overall this place is good, but can be very busy a lot of the time. I use it fairly regularly as it's my closest recycling point. I find it is easy to use, with most things clearly signed and when I haven't been able to find the right area, staff working there have been polite and helpful. The site is a big improvement on the muddy dump it was before. The main improvement I would like is a better traffic system that means I can get out once I'm finished, without being blocked by the queue of cars waiting to get in. For those reviewers who complain about the staff tearing open the black bags. This done to ensure the highest amount of waste is recycled, as some users just want to dump and run. And no I'm not related to, or friends with anyone working there.

I both live and work in west London disposing of both commercial and domestic waste at Townmead Road. As such I have extensive experience of commercial waste disposal and, without doubt, Townmead is by far the best of these facilities. The service is quick and the staff are always polite and friendly. It also amazes me that anyone should complain with first world comments such as 'there is a queue'. Get real mate, you don't know how lucky you are!

Teddy's Cash 4 Clothes

Ivybridge Retail Park, Twickenham Rd, Isleworth, Twickenham TW7 7DY, UK – 020 8594 4588

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Ham

La Buvette

6 Church Walk, Richmond TW9 1SN, UK – 020 8940 6264

Lovely restaurant. Very picturesque and great value for money if you get the meal deal. I've given 4 stars instead of 5 because there wasn't a great variety of vegetarian options. The food was lovely though. I'd definitely recommend

Pretty restaurant down a narrow road. Wouldn't have known this place existed. Food was delicious and very good value for money if you get the fixed price lunch and dinner. The staff were all very friendly. The courtyard was pretty and sheltered from the sun or rain!

Treviso Restaurant

94 Kew Rd, Richmond TW9 2PQ, UK – 020 8940 0033

Lovely place. Lovely food. Nice people. Even though my partner ordered the risotto and they came out with the Sea Bass. Good job she is a Pescitarian :)

Lovely place. Very unique (in a good way) decor, i had one of their specials, sea food linguine which was the best pasta i had in my life. I'm not usually a fan of pasta but this one was awesome. Tasted fresh and the seafood was prepared just right. Service is great. We had bottle of wine for the table and the waiter was perfect at spotting when out glasses were empty and came back each time to fill it up. I am definately going to return.

A Cena

418 Richmond Rd, Twickenham TW1 2EB, UK – 020 8288 0108

very nice place and very nice staff. Me and my wife come very often and enjoy the Gavi di Gavi. Sunday is always good

Nice place with a great selection of wines and delicious plates. The prawn appetiser was crispy and fresh. I had the chicken with salad on the side which was very similar to a Caesar salad and also very tasty.

Both our children went through Little Wrens. Couldn’t ask for a better start for them. Both boys enjoyed it immensely and will have fond memories of their time there. The team have always been caring, thoughtful and considerate and very flexible with the times and sessions we could make. They are super with the children making the learning fun and creative. Our children learned a ton and enjoyed it all along the way. What’s not to like.

Primary and Secondary Schools

St Richard Reynolds Catholic College

Clifden Rd, Twickenham TW1 4LT, UK – 020 8325 4630

Great school, good subjects and cool resources

My son got stabbed here

Marshgate Primary School

157 Queen's Rd, Richmond TW10 6HY, UK – 020 8332 6219

Both my daughters spent seven very happy years at Marshgate and look back at their primary school fondly. My eldest daughter started in 2003 and my youngest in 2006. As a family we have all been part of the wonderful Marshgate community that exists to this day.

My grandchildren both attended Marshgate School for all of their years in primary education. I thought they had a great education and the staff were always welcoming when ever I attended the many plays, choir and instrumental concerts that were held over the years. The children were happy at the school and sad to leave when it was time to move to secondary school.

Richmond Park Academy

Park Ave, London SW14 8RG, UK – 020 8876 8891

I am Marketing & Communications Manager at Richmond Park Academy in addition to being a parent, and I would like to reassure readers that there is no foundation in truth with the accusations made on this Google review stream. All schools expect extreme comments on their Google reviews but some on this feed are a step too far. We have a robust safeguarding policy here which was endorsed by Ofsted in January, so we have the experience, skills and processes to manage the young people in our care throughout their time here. If anybody who has made those accusations wishes to discuss their comments directly with the school, they are very welcome to do so at any point.

We have one child at the school in Y8 and one joining Y7 in September. Our daughter loves it and there is so much to get involved with beyond just academic work. The new head has really made a terrific impact since he arrived a couple of years ago and inspires enormous confidence that he will take this school 'outstanding' in the next few years.

Public & Preparatory Schools

Radnor House Independent School

21 Cross Deep, Twickenham TW1 4QG, UK – 020 8891 6264

Some of the "reviews" on this school seem to be written by people who have no experience of it, or are written by people who have an axe to grind for various reasons. My experience is our son has been attending the school in year 7 and has so far completed two terms. Previously he was at Hampton Prep for his primary school years. My wife and I picked the school after attending a couple of open days and speaking with the teachers, who we found to be highly motivated and enthusiastic. Now we have two terms experience I think we can start to form some conclusions. The first is that our initial impression about the quality of the teachers has proved correct. Our son really enjoys school and has found new motivation to work hard to try and achieve his potential. We have also found the teachers to be accessible, constructive and helpful. One point to note is that a new headmaster has recently taken over at the school. He has a good level of experience having been a headmaster previously for a number of years. I hope (and expect) that the foundations laid by his predecessor will be continued, in particular with the method of recruiting talented teaching professionals. My suggestion would be if you are considering sending your child to Radnor House is to go along to an open day, ask challenging questions, and judge for yourself. The school is definitely worth including in your short list, and my wife and I are very pleased we chose it for our eldest son.

King's House School

68 Kings Rd, Richmond TW10 6ES, UK – 020 8940 1878

Good school but going to school grounds which is 20 min away on coach. A bit messy at times but teachers were nice when I was there in 2013-2016. School fees were about £4000 a term when I was there. There is a nursery for boys are girls but when you go to the junior department up the road its all boys and ages from 4/5 to 8/9. Then you go to the senior department where you go from ages 9 to around 13. Facilities are ok 👌. But sometimes you have to walk up the road for a PE or games lesson😐. There aren’t any changing rooms in juniors so you change in classroom which is a bit awkward. There are games lessons- football in autumn term, rugby in winter and cricket in summer term. Games lessons and playing against other schools start from year 3 (7/8). Playground not the biggest. Generally a nice school though.

Was good when I was there a long time ago now.
