Cinemas around Ham

Odeon Cinema Richmond

72 Hill St, Richmond TW9 1TW, UK – 0333 014 4501

Brilliant staff today (hence 3 stars rather than 1). 3D device on screen 7 had broken - apologetic staff provided snacks & Odeon passes to see another movie, and then played Star Wars VIII in 2D rather than 3D. Very small screen would not have been worth it in 3D anyway. Probably good for low-key art-house movies; certainly no good for block busters as all the effects are lost (except the price). Comparisons with home cinema in other reviews are accurate.

Very old and tired building. Felt like I was in a ramshackle theatre rather than a state of the art cinema. The staff were friendly and the seats (premier) were comfy although maybe a little too upright. The choice of food and drinks was very limited. Odeon need to consider whether they feel this cinema is representative of what they want there chain to be

Curzon Richmond

Water Ln, Richmond TW9 1TJ, UK – 0333 321 0104

Easily the best cinema in Richmond, better viewing experience and environment than the rubbish Odeon across the way.

Really nice, cozy cinema to see a film. Staff friendly too. The pub across the way does decent beer and food too.

Odeon Studio

6 Red Lion St, Richmond TW9 6RE, UK – 0333 014 4501

Nice cinema although there are no chairs to wait if you’re early. There used to be seats at the entrance but have now been taken away. Not very accommodating for those who can’t stand for long periods!

Yesterday I promised the kids to see a film (Odeon, red lion street). I didn't book and unfortunately once we arrived it was sold out. The staff arranged to move things around in a way to create 3 spaces for us to see the movie after all. Amazing, standout customer service! Thank you!!!

Theatres for Ham

Orange Tree Theatre

1 Clarence St, Richmond TW9 2SA, UK – 020 8940 3633

A delightful way to spend an evening. Came with my daughter and her husband. We were transported to a different time and presented with hopes and fears we easily recognized. Greatly enjoyed the drama. Wonderful acting. Can't wait until next week and our next installment of theatre.

Stunning production of 'Poison'. The glorious Clare Price!!

Richmond Theatre

Little Green, Richmond TW9 1QJ, UK – 0844 871 7651

A fantastic theatre! Well staffed with people who are polite and courteous. Nice and clean toilet facilities with music playing in them. Comfortable seats. Few downsides, the balcony is quite protruding so if you’re right at the back of the stalls this could be an issue and secondly a few people were let in after the show began which was bothersome.

Very interesting old theatre. Very helpful booking clerk. For £10 extra each we could go into a private lounge. This included a drink and nibbles, somewhere to sit before and in the interval and also a cloakroom. Well worth it!

Mary Wallace Theatre

Twickenham TW1 3NX, UK – 020 8744 0547

This is a brilliant little theatre, in a great location too. We've been going each month and have loved everything we have seen there. So enjoyable. They have proper plays too - not the silly stuff. It goes to show you don't have to pay silly money to go to the theatre. I recommend this.

Home of the Richmond Shakespeare Society, we've been going to see performances at this small theatre for around 25 years. The performers may be amateur, but the performances are decidedly professional and there's rarely a spare seat in the house. In summer they put on a play in the nearby Fountain Gardens (part of York House Gardens), with the elaborate Italian fountain and figures forming a spectacular backdrop - get there early, take a picnic, and hope there's no rain!
