Cinemas around Ham

Odeon Cinema Richmond

72 Hill St, Richmond TW9 1TW, UK – 0333 014 4501

Only 15 minutes of ads and trailers before the beginning of the feature film on the opening day which I thought was very good compared to others. Costa in the building and pick and mix in the attractive entrance hall.

A proper old school Cinema. Getting a bit grubby around the edges now and could do with a kick of paint but generally well maintained. Only has 3 screens in the original building (there are more screens in a separate building a few minutes walk away). Obviously cannot compete with the giant multiplexes but there is a feeling of nostalgia you just can't beat when watching a movie in a traditional old school Cinema building.

Odeon Cinema Richmond

6 Red Lion St, Richmond TW9 6RE, UK – 0871 224 4007

It's handy and in a great location for eating before/after. The screens are all quite small, you often get relegated to the cinema round the back and invariably an icecream machine (or equiv) will be broken down. It's in the middle of Richmond so dont' expect it to be a drive up an park cinema.

Richmond Odeon Red Lion street is very small and there were only two members of staff and they were serving. Half way through our film (15a) a mother and her and her two young children came in and sat down and started disturbing everyonebefore realising they were in the wrong film which would have never happened if they had enough staff. I don't even want to think about the mess left in the screen.

Curzon Richmond

3 Water Ln, Richmond TW9 1TJ, UK – 0333 321 0104

Nested on a quiet lane towards Richmond Riverside, this branch of the Curzon chain offers comfortable chairs and good sound system, quality films and the opportunity to watch them with a glass of champagne or wine. It gets sold out quickly over the weekends. Book in advance. Don't be put off by the screening being sold out. Give them a call as many members get free tickets with their membership but sometimes don't turn up. Enjoy the performance as much as we always do.

Lovely little cinema right by the river. I will always come here to see the NT Live productions (if I haven't left it too late and they've sold out...) The customer service and overall experience is well worth the ticket price.

Theatres for Ham

Orange Tree Theatre

1 Clarence St, Richmond TW9 2SA, UK – 020 8940 3633

Small friendly off West End theatre with an amazing choice of original and unjustly forgotten drama. If you're keen on theatre, go there! Richmond is very easy to get to and the orange tree is 5mins walk. Good pub opposite

My favourite theatre in London. It's an incredibly intimate perfoming space where directors have to think about how to stage in the round and have to meet the unbelievably high standards that have been set in the last couple of years. Three of their original productions have gone on to the West End, two of those to the National Theatre! No other tiny, unfunded theatre packs so much punch. Also the staff are just the nicest, most helpful people you could hope to meet. If you can't get here, go and see " An Octoroon", their latest production now opening at The National Theatre.

Mary Wallace Theatre

Twickenham TW1 3NX, UK – 020 8744 0547

This is a brilliant little theatre, in a great location too. We've been going each month and have loved everything we have seen there. So enjoyable. They have proper plays too - not the silly stuff. It goes to show you don't have to pay silly money to go to the theatre. I recommend this.

Small but beautiful theatre in Twickenham. Really worth checking out what's on!

Richmond Theatre

Little Green, Richmond TW9 1QJ, UK – 0844 871 7651

Richmond Theatre - lovely old building and can get a bit hot inside during the summer. Seating in Upper Circle, Dress Circle and Stalls. Drama and music shows. Sometumes they have plays which have either been in the West End and are going on tour or are at Richmond as a final run through before going to a West End theatre. Not particular large stage.

Watched several plays and performances here, would highly recommend checking out this beautiful theatre. Parking can be tricky. The staff is always helpful.
